Key Objective of the Job Position

To execute contractual milestones at the site within the targeted time keeping safety, health, environmental and quality parameters within norms specified, in the interests of the client and AFCONS

Roles and Responsibilities 01

Plan and mobilize project

  • Co-ordination with project team for the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly programs.
  • Interpretation of drawings and ensuring execution as per the drawings.
  • Supervision and monitoring of construction works, ensuring adherence to quality.
  • Development of overall project plan and construction schedule.
  • Reporting daily progress and maintaining DPR
  • Coordination with consultants and clients with daily progress reports and RFI validations.
  • Maintaining perfect and co-ordination with consultants, sub-contractors and clients
  • Establishment of project infrastructure as per contract/ work requirement
  • Budget, plan and construction schedule in line with contract base schedule
  • Initiate and identify team members for formation of core team at site
  • Initial mobilization of men, machinery as per contract/workplan
  • Oversee and ensure timely completion of site establishment and infrastructure for project operations as per schedule
  • Coordinate with client representative for handling over of work fronts to start the works as per the base schedule, land acquisition and other consents for fulfilling statutory and contract requirements
  • Obtain mandatory licenses, approvals and clearances required for project establishment (Across functions) from State/Central Govt departments as applicable and as per contract provisions

Roles and Responsibilities 02

Construction Management

  • Foundations and Sub-structure Works: Interpretation of drawings of well foundations, well cap, pile, pile cap, pier, pier caps, monitoring and supervision of works, daily progress review and reporting daily progress to the Section In-charge/Construction Manager, ensure adherence to safety and quality, study and Preparation of BBS, co-ordination with sub-contractors, co-ordination with planning team for the preparation/adherence of daily, weekly and monthly programs, checking steel reinforcement works of well sinking, well cap, pile, pile caps, pier, pier caps prior to concreting, ensuring proper curing.
  • Earthwork, RUBs, RORs, ROBs: Supervision and execution of earthwork in embankment, compaction, blanketing, soil replacement, slope protection works, drainage works, co-ordination with the sub-contractors and monitoring the execution of RUBs, retaining wall, diversion works, restoration work, construction of ROBs, RORs, clearing and grubbing, tree cutting, dismantling of various items as per site conditions, earthwork including excavation, embankment from cut fill & borrow areas, subgrade from cut fill & borrow areas, loosening and recompacting; non-bituminous including GSB, WMM; bituminous including BM, DBM, and BC, reconciliation of the materials consumed, construction and supervision of allied miscellaneous works including identification and shifting of various utilities viz. electrical, gas pipelines, water and sewerage pipelines, railway utilities.

  • Truss Superstructure: Supervision and monitoring of various fabrication and erection activities, Inspection of various activities as per approved QAP from material traceability to final fit up and dimensional inspection, experienced with various welding procedures like SMAW, GMAW, SAW with single or multiple welding processes, visual inspection of weld joints of truss girder, verification of WPS, welder qualification, welding consumables, drawings and conditions prior to the start of welding, analyzing the welding defects and giving instruction to the production team to improve welding quality.
  • Cable-Stayed Bridge: Successfully completed construction of Cable-stayed bridge/Extradosed bridge, supervision of pre-stressing operation, segment casting, launching of girders, stressing of stay cables, Construction of pylons, ensuring construction activities executed as per approved drawings.
  • Balanced Cantilever Bridge: Supervision of well foundation works, pile foundation works, well-sinking, pre-stressing of girders, erection of precast segmental box girders, cast-in-place bridges, supervision of works involving erection activities including segment erection, self-launching gantry erection, mid-span closure operations.

  • Roads: Able to monitor and guide Construction Manager, Section In-charges and other project team members in execution of large sized EPC projects involving construction of road work, earthwork, bituminous/asphalt/ DBM road, DLC, PQC works, subbase/base, finishing of shoulder, traffic signs, road marking, metal beam crash barriers, drainage and protective works, RCC retaining walls, gabion walls, breast walls, stone pitching for slopes, bridges and viaducts.
  • Bridges: Able to monitor and guide Construction Manager, Section In-charges and other project team members in execution of well sinking foundation, open pile foundation. land based piling, pier, pier cap, box culverts and of pipe culverts, well cap, abutments, deck slab, box culvert & pipe culvert, Cast In-situ bored, river protection work, earthwork in embankment & pylon’s approach road, under pass, railway bridge, viaducts, cable stayed bridge, extra dozed bridge, bridge using balanced cantilever, arch bridge, I girder bridge segment casting & segment launching for elevated metro, fabrication, erection & stressing of stay cables, arch, bridge
  • Update daily progress review and inform Project Controller on day-to-day progress.

Education Qualifications

Educational Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering / Diploma in Civil Engineering

Computer Software Proficiency

MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point

Experience Range

Overall, 5 to 12 years of exposure in Bridges, Marine Bridges, Creek Bridges Projects.

Work Environment

Work in all climatic conditions. Need to split their time between working in an office and working outdoors at construction sites so that they can monitor operations or solve problems May need to work extra hours to ensure that the projects meet their deadlines. May need to travel to work sites at domestic or overseas location. Deal & convince all types of people (including labour, Project Manager & clients), Maintain a high-level safety standard at work site as civil construction work is risk prone. Maintain a high level of social contact.
