Roles and Responsibilities 01

Designing Structures

• Preparing Detailed Designs for Permanent and Enabling Structure Drawings.

Design Methodology

• Discussing various options with team leaders/Project Manager/Construction Manager and Set construction techniques to be adopted for the required work. Prepare preliminary sketches and brief write up and discuss with client if required and obtain their approval before proceeding with design activities.
• Developing and preparing various construction stage required for the design checks to be done by Design Engineers. Prepare the list of precautions or construction sequence to be adopted during construction in discussion with Team leader and Planning team
• Participating in discussion for possible option of methodology and launching scheme for bridge erection. Finalize the scheme with team leaders to be given to Design Engineers for Design of formwork & enabling structures required for erection of bridge accordingly.
• Preparation and review of submittals such as method statements, manual for launching and take responsibility of all design issues and ensure successful delivery of the projects
• Providing inputs for Work Method Statements for systematic procedure to establish the sequence of construction, technical, safety parameters and tolerances is documented prior to actual construction
• Preparing value engineering proposals of structural elements keeping in view of saving manhours, cost and ease of construction
• Supervising all construction activities including providing technical inputs for sequence of construction & monitoring sites

Roles and Responsibilities 02

Design Coordination

• Reviewing the permanent/Enabling structure drawings. Ensure feasibility, constructability, and viability of the structures in terms of cost, time. Prepare Bill of Quantities
• Maintaining Correspondences with clients, Authority Engineers, Design Engineers and site team to resolve technical issues. Attending WPR, MPR meetings and preparing minutes of the same.
• Reviewing approved fabrication drawings, checking the details as per the designs. Checking details for clashing with other fittings if any.
• Reviewing the GFC drawings and raise (RFI) Request for information to confirm the interpretation of a detail, specification or note on the construction drawings or to secure a documented directive or clarification from the Design Engineer, architect or client
• Managing design submission for approval according to the schedule finalized.

Design Submission: Review and Approval/ Monitor Work Progress

• Preparing design submittals for issuance of documents for Approval / construction
• Ensuring design drawing review is completed prior to the commencement of the construction process.
• Reviewing design change proposed by site to improve the constructability of the works and inform the same to Design Engineers
• Clarifying design queries during approvals with client and construction at site.
• Discussing design interface with team leaders involving activities between Civil and the various external parties such as E & M contracts, utilities, and related government offices

Key Objective of the Job Position

• Integration of designs prepared by different members of the project team to create a single, unified set of information that can be constructed without clashes between components.
• Effective design coordination to reduce costs, delays and disruption that can be caused by problems on site and the need for remedial or abortive works and redesign.

Education Qualifications

Educational Essential: BTech – Civil, MTech - Structures
Educational Desirable: PhD

Computer Software Proficiency

MS Excel, MS Word, Power Point, STAAD Pro

Experience Range

Minimum 6 to 12 years of experience (Permanent and enabling construction at site)

Work Environment

Primarily work in office environments, but also sometimes travel to project sites. May require working extended hours. Requires Mathematical skills, on spot calculation capacity and proficiency in various design software. Should be able to manage stress & turbulent situations.
