Roles and Responsibilities 01

Design / Review

  • Ensuring detailed design and drawings / review of Ground Water Supply Projects, Surface Water Supply Projects, Water Treatment Plants, Tube well, Intakes RCC Buildings, Water Reservoirs (Overhead and Surface), HDPE / MS / DI / PVC Pipe laying, Transmission Lines, Irrigation, Pump House and House Service Connections.

Tender Stage

  • Understanding the material requirements, design procedures, assumptions, and constraints. Preparing and finalizing design basis report.
  • Ensuring the preparation of preliminary designs.
  • Reviewing Tender Documents, understanding client’s requirements, discussing additions and omissions (from scope of service) for successfully delivering various structural projects within time and cost.
  • Reviewing information affecting design, discussing with Team Leader and following instructions accordingly.
  • Ensuring the preparation of Design Delivery Schedule.
  • Organizing, drafting, reviewing technical submittals, and ensuring coordination for it.
  • Ensuring that designs are constructable, safe, economical, satisfying contract requirements, law of land and other statutory provisions. Advising modifications and additional calculations if required.

Roles and Responsibilities 02

Detailed Design

  • Ensuring detailed design / review of design provided by external consultant.
  • Discussing various options and setting design parameters such as materials to be used, design assumptions, design methodology, analysis techniques to be adopted, standards / codes to be followed, making a list of referral codes / journal to be referred. Discussing with call stakeholders and obtaining their approval before proceeding with design activities.
  • Developing and carrying out construction stage design checks.
  • Ensuring the preparation of construction sequence to be adopted during construction in discussion with all stakeholders.
  • Reviewing submittals such as method statements and taking responsibility of all design issues and ensuring successful delivery of design documents..

Design Submission and review of Design for Approval / Monitoring Work progress

  • Ensuring design preparation and issuing of good for construction (GFC) documents for construction.
  • Ensuring design review is completed prior to the commencement of construction.
  • Reviewing design changes proposed by site to improve the constructability.
  • Clarifying design queries during approvals with client and construction at site.
  • Discussing design interface with Design Head and team members involving activities between civil and the various external parties (such as Engineering and Manufacturing Contracts, Utilities, and related government offices).

Key Objective of the Job Position

  • Developing cost-effective design layouts based on construction requirements and specifications adhering to established design guidelines and procedures.
     
  • Performing civil design analysis and calculations as per project requirements, determining construction cost and material estimates based on civil designs.
  • Performing field surveys and investigations to prepare engineering drawings.
  • Reviewing Project Plan and determining the design feasibility and constraints, using latest software and technologies to develop effective designs; and managing design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.

Education Qualifications

Educational Essential: MTech
Educational Desirable: NA

Computer Software Proficiency

AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Bentley WaterGEMS, Bentley SewerGEMS,  Midas, Sofistik, Knowledge of Design Codes etc.

Experience Range

11-20 years’ experience in Water Supply Projects with minimum 10- 20 with leading infrastructural firm. (Permanent and Enabling)

Work Environment

Primarily work in office environments, but also sometimes travel to project sites. May require working extended hours. Requires Mathematical skills, on spot calculation capacity and proficiency in various design software. Should be able to manage stress & turbulent situations.
