Roles and Responsibilities 01
- Responsible for designing/engineering, installing, testing, and maintaining the electrical, mechanical, Instruments and PLC Scada control systems crucial for water treatment, Sewage treatment plant and main and distribution pipe line & reservoirs etc.
Electromechanical Systems
- Plan, supervise, and execute installation of HT/LT motors, pumps (raw water, clear water, booster pumps, Submersible type, Air Blower & Chlorination system, Clariflocculator mechanism, Chemical Dosing system etc.), PMCCs, VFDs, All types of HT & LT panels, transformers, DG sets, electrical auxiliaries and Earthing system.
- Coordinate erection and commissioning of:
- Vertical turbine pumps, split case pumps, submersible pumps
- Valves, actuators, gear boxes, and flow control equipment
- Review and approval of E&M drawings, GA drawings, SLDs, layouts, and vendor documents.
- Ensure correct alignment, grouting, earthing, cable laying, termination, and testing of electrical systems.

Instrumentation & Automation
- Implement and commission instrumentation systems, including:
- Calibration of Flow meters , pressure transmitters, level sensors, analyzers (pH, turbidity, chlorine), Motorized valves and actuators.
- Supervise PLC, SCADA, RTU, and automation systems integration.
- Coordinate IO mapping, loop checking, logic testing, and system integration with vendors.
- Ensure seamless communication between field instruments, PLC panels, control rooms, and SCADA servers.
- Prepare and knowledge about system architecture.

Testing & Commissioning
- Execute pre-commissioning, dry run, wet run, performance testing, and trial runs of E&M systems.
- Prepare and maintain Pre & Post commissioning checklists, test reports, FAT/SAT documentation.
- Assist in performance guarantee (PG) tests and final handing over to the client.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and review:
- Method statements of all electrical, mechanical and instrumentation, installation procedures, and commissioning plans
- Daily progress reports (DPRs), material reconciliation, and as-built drawings
- Prepare O&M manuals coordination with vendor and training documentation.
- Support billing measurements and technical clarifications related to E&M works.
- Co-ordinate with client/consultant for technical discussion and documents related to EMI works.
- Prepare RFQ of all EMI equipment and identify the reputed/suitable Vendors for relevant EMI materials.
- Co-ordinate with purchase team for technical and commercial finalization with Vendor.
Operations & Maintenance
- Support initial O&M phase, including troubleshooting and stabilization.
- Train client/O&M staff on operation of pumps, panels, PLC-SCADA systems.

Key Objective of the Job Position
- The Electromechanical & Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for planning, execution, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of all electromechanical and instrumentation systems related to water supply projects, including pumping stations, treatment plants, reservoirs, transmission systems, and automation controls, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, quality norms, and timelines.
Education Qualifications
Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical and Instrumentation engineering
Desirable:
M.Tech or PGP is preferred
Computer Software Proficiency
Experience Range
- Minimum 10-15 years’ of experience in planning and design /engineering of river/lake intake with intake bridge, Large Pumping stations, Treatment plant structures, Elevated service reservoir, Ground reservoir, Structures related to pipeline
Work Environment
- May need to travel to work sites at domestic or overseas locations. Majorly operating from project site.
