DESIGN COORDINATOR

Afcons Infrastructure Limited is an Indian multinational construction and engineering company based in Mumbai. The company provides infrastructure services and is involved in the construction of infrastructure projects such as viaducts, flyovers, metros, bridges, pipelines, roads, ports, barrages, oil and gas projects etc.

Roles and Responsibilities 01

Design / Review

• Ensuring detailed design and drawings / review of Surface and Ground Water Supply Projects, WTP, Intakes, MS / DI / HDPE Pipeline projects.

Tender Stage

• Consultation with Design Manager for material requirements, design procedures, assumptions, and constraints. Preparing and finalizing design basis report.
• Preparing preliminary designs with the help of Design Manager.
• Reviewing Tender Documents, attending kick off meetings, understanding client’s requirements, attending discussion with Design Manager about addition and deletion from scope of service.
• Preparing design delivery schedule after discussing with Design Manager,
• Assisting Design Manager for
  a) Reviewing information affecting design, discussing with Design Manager, and following instructions accordingly.
  b) Organizing, Drafting, Reviewing, and Coordinating Technical Submittals.
  c) Finalizing the designs and ensuring that designs are constructable, safe, and economical, satisfying contract requirements, law of land, statutory provisions. "
• Advising for required modifications and additional calculations.

Roles and Responsibilities 02

Detailed Design

• Detailed design / review of designs provided by external consultant.
• Assisting Design Manager for
• Developing and carrying out construction stage design checks.
• Preparing the construction sequence to be adopted during construction in discussion with Team leader and Planning Team.
• Finalizing the scheme, designing Underground Structures, and enabling structures required.
• Preparation and review of submittals such as method statements and taking responsibility of all design issues and ensuring successful delivery of design documents.

Design Submission and review of Design for Approval / Monitoring Work progress

• Assisting Design Manager for
  a.Preparing design and issuing good for construction (GFC) document.
  b.Ensuring completion of design review prior to the commencement of construction process."
• Discussing design queries with Design Manager before submission for client approval during construction stage.

Key Objective of the Job Position

• Developing cost-effective design layouts based on construction requirements and specifications adhering to established design guidelines and procedures.
• Performing civil design analysis and calculations as per project requirements, determining construction cost and material estimates based on civil designs.
• Performing field surveys and investigations to prepare engineering drawings.
• Reviewing Project Plan and determining the design feasibility and constraints, using latest software and technologies to develop effective designs; and managing design projects within allotted timelines and budgets.

Education Qualifications

Educational Essential: MTech-Structures
Educational Desirable: NA

Computer Software Proficiency

AutoCAD, Staad, Midas, Sofistik, etc. Knowledge of Design Codes

Experience Range

Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in Underground Tunnel, Underground Metro Station, D ’Wall Construction Works etc. with leading infrastructural firm in India

Work Environment

Primarily work in office environments, but also sometimes travel to project sites. May require working extended hours. Should be able to manage stress & turbulent situations.
