Roles and Responsibilities 01

Planning and Mobilizing the Project :

• Execution of works at high standards as directed by the Section In charge.
• Serving primarily as the fore-front soldier for multiple execution activities at site and checking whether the activities are in line with the quality, contract and design and drawings specifications.
• Co-ordination with project team for the preparation of daily, weekly and monthly programs.
• Interpretation of drawings and ensuring execution as per the drawings.
• Execution of works as per approved method statement. Supervision and monitoring of construction works, ensuring adherence to quality.
• Development of overall project plan and construction schedule site plan in line with budget / construction schedule for assigned Section.
• Reporting daily progress and maintaining Daily Progress Report (DPR).
• Coordination with consultants and clients with daily progress reports (DPR) and request for information (RFI) validations.
• Maintaining perfect and co-ordination with consultants, sub-contractors, and clients.
• Establishment of project infrastructure as per contract / work requirement.
• Coordinating with client representative for handling over of work fronts to start the works as per the base schedule, land acquisition and for other consents to for fulfilling statutory and contractual requirements.
• Obtaining mandatory licenses, approvals and clearances required for project establishment (Across functions) from State / Central Govt departments (as applicable and as per contractual provisions).

Executinge work at site ensuring adherence to quality norms

• Preparation of the workplan.
• Studying and understanding the contract, technical specifications and accordingly executing the respective activity at site accordingly.
• Understanding the methodology for major activities provided in the contract and executing the work as per approved methodology.
• If any change required in the approved methodology, as per site conditions, Informing to Section in charge and get guidance if any changes required in the approved methodology, as per site conditions from him.
• Maintaining the record of joint measurements of work done (duly signed by client representatives) for claiming client bills.
• Ensuring overall delivery of tasks pertaining to site as per timelines, project specifications, AFCONS procedures and quality standards.
• Interacting with Piece Rate Contractor, Subcontractor and departmental workmen and make them understand the works to be executed and targets to be achieved as per workplan.
• Supervising the works in line with contract technical specifications and ensuring quality of works as per Quality Management Procedures.
• Minimizing the waste of major materials and ensuring the wastages are well within the budget limit.

Roles and Responsibilities 03

• Interacting with Piece Rate Contractor, Subcontractor and departmental workmen and make them understand the works are to be executed and achieve targets as per workplan. Supervise the works in line with contract technical specifications and ensure quality of works as per Quality Management procedures laid down. Preparing measurements for Piece Rate Contractors and Subcontractor works as per work order and sending it to site Quantity Survey department for payments.
• Minimize wastage of major materials and ensure wastages are well within the budget limit. Maintaining the records for usage of materials in permanent and temporary works and providing the same to site Quantity Survey department on monthly basis for reconciliation purpose.
• Identifying if any work is are deviated from contract specifications, and found if any, the same is to shall be informed to Section in charge for further course of action.
• On-site execution of work at site as per planned budget and specifications.
• Identifying opportunities for application of good engineering practices / innovative practices to enhance quality of delivery and, communicating the same to the Underground Station Manager and Construction Manager., Works Manager etc.& who derives inputs from Section In-Charge for completion of task.

Specialized Roles and Responsibilities for Underground Metro – Tunnel Works

• Execution of Underground Tunnels using Cut & Cover Method with Tunnel+D2876+E2876:E2888+E2876:E2876:E2889
• Updating daily progress review and informing Tunnel Manager on day-to-day progress.
• Tunneling through Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and construction of interconnected cross passages.
• Coordination with Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) Crew on a day-to-day basis for mining of Tunnel, Muck Disposal.
• Coordination with Precast Yard Team for production of Concrete Segments of required design and shape, safe transportation of same and stacking at site.
• Monitoring segments fixing, grouting and shotcreting.
• Construction of Transition Ramp, Auxiliary Utilities Systems for Tunnels and Cross Passages, controlling the rebound of shotcrete.
• Controlling the alignment and profile of the Tunnel.
• Controlling and reducing overbreak and undercuts in NATM Tunnels.
• Reviewing work progress by sub-contractors and planning measures to achieve milestones.
• Leading the supervision team to ensure quality and safety of construction in accordance with approved designs and laid down specifications.
• Protection, rescue, and rehabilitation of structures above tunnel alignment during Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operations.
• Monitoring the productivity of resources and coming up with improvement ideas.
• Updating Tunnel Manager on the work progress and achievement of milestones.

Roles and Responsibilities 05

Overseeing optimum resource utilization at site :

• Allocating resources such as equipment, materials, and manpower as per requirement of each activity. Avoiding idling of resources to remain idle and ensuring its optimum usage. of equipment allocated on site
• Oversee optimum usage of material on site; Identifying areas for waste reduction.
• Oversee activities of personnel at site; ensure Ensuring availability of manpower personnel by raising timely requisitions to the Section Line -charge.
• Ensuring timely induction of manpower and equipment in every shift at the start of every shift. Ensuring timely completion of Inform activities and carried out shift and balance work is to be carried out in subsequent shift to the next Shift-in-Charge.

Build and sustain harmonious relationships with external entities :

• Ensuring regular interactions and cordial relations with clients. and client representatives
• Maintaining harmonious relations with subcontractors and subcontracted workmen
• Maintaining cordial relations with local community and community representatives

Safety Management:

• Ensuring that safety is a top priority and striving to ensure zero incidents / accidents.
• Adhering to safety goals, policies, guidelines, processes, and any new implementation by AFCONS management / authorities / client / customer.
• Regularly reviewing safety performance and taking corrective action when necessary.
• Collaborating with project safety department to ensure that safety workshops, safety drills, and safety awareness programs are conducted to increase safety awareness among the project team.
• Developing a safety culture within the project team and encouraging all team members to take responsibility for safety.
• Ensuring that all safety equipment are in place and used properly.Ensuring that safety is a top priority and adhering to the norms of the clients and the Health Safety & Environment policy to ensure zero incidents/accidents.
• Providing leadership in safety management by setting safety goals, policies, and procedures for the project team.
• Regularly reviewing safety performance and taking corrective action when necessary.
• Monitoring safety workshops, safety drills, and safety awareness programs to increase safety awareness among the project team.
• Developing a safety culture within the project team and encouraging all team members to take responsibility for safety.
• Ensuring that safety regulations and guidelines are followed, and that safety equipment is in place and used properly.

Educational Essential: BE/B-Tech- Civil / Diploma in Civil Engineering

Educational Desirable: ME/M-Tech- Civil

Experience Range

Minimum 2 to 6 years of experience in projects involving Construction Management for underground station work

Work Environment

Work in all climatic conditions, at heights and underground works. Need to split their time between working in an office and working outdoors at construction sites so that they can monitor operations or solve problems May need to work extra hours to ensure that the projects meet their deadlines. Maintain a high-level safety standard at project site. Maintain a high level of social contact. Learn and implement work-life balance. Deal & convince all types of people (including labour to Project Manager, other Team Members, Labour, Subcontractor and Clients).
